Dangers of Losing Weight Using Certain Methods

So you want to lose weight. There is a wealth of available information and you need to pick one plan that looks reasonable to you. Losing weight by sticking to a diet and working out can be hard, so it comes as no surprise to hear that people resort to very unsafe ways of losing weight. Most commonly, women are resorting to these risky methods as they feel pressured into being thin by society. Our society pressures women into being thin so they often choose these risky weight loss methods. It's good to be a healthy weight, however observing these methods of weight loss will result in your overall health diminishing and you will become ill. Here is some information that will shed light on these risky methods.

The most common drastic diet plan is starvation; not eating much food at all, resulting in your energy levels decreasing. You may simply skip breakfast or lunch, or possibly both meals. In your mind, you tell yourself that you're not hungry even though your tummy is grumbling like crazy, screaming I want to be fed!. Your body is clever, though, and it is able to adjust. Since your body believes it is being starved, it slows the metabolism process in order to save energy, causing you to burn less fat than you normally would. When you resume normal eating habits again, your metabolism will remain slower resulting in your easily storing calories, causing you to speedily gain more fat. You will lose weight by starving yourself, but not as much as you would with a proper diet and workout plan. Don't you think it's better to be able to eat and lose weight while continuing to be healthy?

Anorexia can be a result of you starving yourself. You begin to be constantly fearful that you will become fat and so you fear food, eat as little as possible, and become dangerously thin. Anorexia causes you to develop a weak immune system and can eventually result in death. Lots of younger people experiment with starvation diet programs but if you mentally set your mind on starving yourself, it can lead to anorexia which is devastating for the body and your health.

Bulimia is another dangerous weight loss method. Bulimic individuals routinely vomit after bingeing on huge amounts of food so that the calories will not add weight to their bodies. They do not fear food as anorexics do, but they feel guilty after overindulging on large amounts of food and so they throw it back up. It's hard to tell if an indivudal is a bulimic as their body weight doesnt change too much, whereas with the other diets you can see people losing weight. Regurgitating your food is hard on your body. Your heart and other vital body parts can be seriously damaged. Stomach ulcers may develop because of the continual vomiting of food. Your esophagus mught be destroyed by the stomach acid and your teeth might lose their enamel. The acid can as well cause injury to your pharynx. Your body can be seriously injured by throwing up your food constantly.

For optimum results, eat healthy foods and eat sensibly. Try keeping the less healthy food out of your diet as much as possible and eat smaller meals. You can safely become slimmer without taking a chance on your health.
